Smorgasbord!

We've got some roosters if any of our readers want to take one or two.

She's been wearing this dress for about three weeks now.

We went to Durham to a Cheese Festival. The festival was packed when we got there, so we went out and about in Durham for a while and had lunch at a Cuban place. We visited the American Tobacco Campus, which is where WUNC is broadcast from, which was a great delight for us. Its pretty neat.

Irene got her first pack of Lucky Strikes.

We got back to the Cheese Fest and were only let in because we came all the way from Greensboro. Ellee sweet talked the bouncer.

4th of July parade.

Went out for dinner at San Luis II.

And I FINALLY got around to putting proper training wheels on Evangeline's bike. She rode this thing like crazy.

This is the first honey harvest. About a half gallon!

Coup de gras.

Baba and Grandma

We had a nice visit from the Tennessee grandparents this weekend.
After five months of non functioning training wheels, I finally got around to getting some that work. Those many months of stationary biking really paid off. She is a regular Lance Armstrong on that thing!

The Legendary Baba

Receiving a MicroKorg for my 30th birthday, which we observed a week early. I'm still 29.

A little spa treatment before church.

More Recent Happenings

Evangeline got her Certificate of Graduation from Spring term, Cycle of Seasons, Musikgarten.
The girl on the right actually wasn't in her class, just came with
her sister the last day. Evangeline was very welcoming.

The whole class. Evangeline managed to not hold Caroline's hand
long enough to put her arm over her face and hold her certificate
at the same time.

We went to Greensboro's Solstice Party again this year:

Flowers mostly just eat gelato.
So do dads.

Evangeline is always quick to make friends.
Dancing to some Reggae.
We made a quick trip to Asheville to see Aunt Margaret, who is pretty ill. We also went to see the Great Grandparents.
Irene enjoyed some nice pillows in her Great Grandma Lucy's  room.
Pretty fountain outside Aunt Margaret's room
G.G. Lucy and Evangeline invented some magic tricks.
After both claimed to be too shy, Great Grandaddy and
Evangeline had a good time. She even sang a song for them.

VBS

Evangeline was pretty much a VBS drop out. She cried too much for three days. Irene did fine. They both managed to endure the entire day on Friday.

Even though she missed most of the practices, she still managed to pull off a stellar performance at the closing service.

John tore his Achilles' playing kickball. Ouch.

Just drinking some Faygo with Greensboro's 2011 Woman of the Year.
Irene watched them do everything. She really likes following and observing.

We got home around 9 and binge ate some PB&H.

child's eye view

Here are a few shots from Evangeline's photo expedition to the farmer's market this past Saturday

I have no idea what building this is.

A graceful shot of Grace.

I must have been driving really crazy for those rosaries to be swinging that much.

Never miss an opportunity to photograph a PT Cruiser

I like these sneak shots.

This guy wanted his picture taken. Surprisingly, the girl agreed.

safe toys for the every day children

This is the ladder that I broke my toe with.
I see no reason why it shouldn't be a toy.
In the living room.

Tennessee and Back Again

We'll start out here with a cookout for our circuit. Ruth is Evangeline's best friend.

I added a rail on the treehouse, as well as a pulley and bucket. Jayla and Kaylie came over and helped us test all of it out.  Irene wanted to make sure the swing still works, which of course only is possible in a diaper. They are Evangeline's best friends.

We went downtown for a new street thing. It was a good idea, but was missing a certain something. That certain something might have to do with having less basketballs intersecting with cups of wine. I don't know where she learned this crazy leg dance, but I like it.

And den we went to Ooltewah. We had a real nice time there. It was pretty great. The kids got to adore Baba all day long and Evangeline got to make cupcakes and ice cream.

Icing a gigantic cupcake.

I think the kids immersed themselves in fountains both days we were there. Irene pretty much follows Evangeline around and does whatever she does.

Ellee is down there somewhere.

my fishing pole

Baba plays the tin whistle for the wee girls on the porch.
And then we came home. The girls were super good on the drive. Which is good.
And then we found this in the garden today with two of her siblings. Oh my.  Can I bring myself to keep them and eat them when Ellee and kids are in Alaska?

The eye of the storm.

Who abandoned their pacifier by the strawberries?

Hugelkultur mania! Ronde de Nice and jalapenos are growing like crazy. We're in for some hot squash sometime soon.
