Vacate

Here are a few more snapshots from vacation at Indian Beach.
We had, I think, for the first time, jello pudding cups.

She's all like... its chocolate.

Irene and I had a long walk on the beach to try to remedy her crying spell. It worked.

The cool thing about the Outer Banks is that you aren't supposed to walk on the dunes, so they build these massive steps over them.

In hot pursuit of sandpipers.

This is how you know she wants to go to the beach.

We had to come back to Greensboro because we both worked on Saturday. We planted the first round of crops for Grace Farm + Garden and Ellee had choir practice.

footprints in the sand

these are pretty much just from Irene

Vacation Again?

We are in Indian Beach, NC staying at some of my parishioners' beach place. It was a surprise to open up the storm shutters and see this view from the porch. It only took a few minutes for them to realize that we could go swim in the ocean. And then Evangeline noticed that we could go to the pool too for anywhere from 3 to 6 hours. She does not want to go to the ocean and wants to stay in the pool. All. The. Time.

Meanwhile back in Greensboro, the bees are doing some weird stuff. So, its probably best we left for a few days so that I don't (a) kill them (b) get killed by them.

GAK

Evangeline saw a commercial for GAK the other day and spent an entire day talking about GAK. Instead of making some nasty borax/glue concoction, I decided to surprise her and order some. It came today, and she was pretty thrilled. We had to microwave it for a minute before it became pliable enough to play with, and then we had to wait a while to touch it because it was burning hot. Nothing says fun like burning hot GAK on  a little girl's fingers.
Once it cooled down, she really dove into it.

Most of the time was spent blowing it up.

She got pretty good at blowing GAK bubbles.

Uh oh.

But hey, this is pretty cool stuff, maybe I can just do it by myself for a while.

Nope! I need to pop that GAK bubble.

And then it all went back in to the little container.

O......K......

Kyle and I are finishing dinner. Evangeline has gone upstairs to use the braffroom.

Me: (shouting to upstairs) Evangeline, are you done?
E: Yep!
Me: Do you need me to wipe you?
E: No!
Me: Didn't you say you had to poop?
E: It's ok, Irene did wipe me.

Home in Greensville

For some reason Evangeline calls Greensboro Greensville.

Anyway, we made it home after a long trip which Evangeline dutifully slept through.
Irene slept about an hour the whole time.

We are happy to be back to the Grey House, but already missing everyone in Alaska.
