First Day of Kindergarten and Denouement

We all got up real early this morning to take Evangeline to her first day of Kindergarten. Lunch packed, breakfast eaten, hair done, school clothes on, in the car, pick up...good thing that's over! Except I keep realizing that we get to do it tomorrow! And the day after! And the day after! Etc!

After her day, we went back for the presentation of the Schultüten, which was fantastisch.

Evangeline's account of her school day was very newsy and positive except that bit where Herr Helgesen made her draw a picture of herself that was not a stick figure. Luckily Frau Crawford is abundantly nice and there are plenty of Sophias in her class to keep her company. And apparently Asher cried a lot.

We asked her on the way home if sometime during the day she wished she was at home instead of school. Long pause. "No...sorry." We told her that's just we were hoping she'd say.

The most schoolgirl Schoolgirl you ever did see.

This kid behind Evangeline was not too happy about his first day of school. Poor kid. We noticed all the crying kids were boys. But no kids were crying when we went back at the end of the day, so things must have gotten better.
Evangeline already embarrassed and trying to seem busy with other stuff.
Amidst some Sophias.
That's a lot of kindergarteners right there.
Shultüte success!
Evangeline had the willpower to not open it until she got home, and then not even until Irene got home so she could open it with her. Sweet sister moment (until Irene sneak ate both packs of gummi bears and lots of tears followed).
