my very own garden

This was the playground at Edisto. Serious.

This is Grandma E.'s step to get on her bed repurposed as a garden. Its Evangeline and Irene's very own garden. E picked basil, dill, kale, marigolds, parsley and some purple flower for it.

This is my current pride and joy. Its a self closing gate for the garden. I got the gate from a house that was being torn down and used the window weights from our houses. Its light enough that the girls can get in on their own, but closes fast enough that the chickens can't get in.

Speaking of chickens.
This was during dinner.
Yes. We've been eating outside the last few days.

This chicken, the New Hampshire Red, is pretty happy with Evangeline picking her up.

  1. With 7 new inches of snow on the ground eating dinner in the back yard and watering the garden in underpants sounds pretty good, but a little far away... Love AB & UJ

  2. Hey, great way to repurpose GG's step! That's a beautiful garden Evangeline.

Looks like you are enjoying warm weather at last. Guess the Alaskan's had to leave and take their weather-jinx with them. Actually, we are having beautiful sunny days here--but cold--it was zero this morning. Br-r-r-r
Soak in that warmth for us.
    Love, Grandma and PopPop

  4. Losing your marbles, Grandma.
Also, send us some of that warm zero weather. It was -18 on the way to school this morning. It is NOT funny to have to plug the car in on April 12th. B
