Labor Day Day

For Labor (Union) day, we went to Raleigh to check out our state capitol building. It was closed, but we got a look around and free parking.

Hats off to our state capitol. It's Raleigh beautiful.

The capitol building closed, we visited the North Carolina History Museum next door...
Dad, I think we're being followed
Though she loves North Carolina history, The Girl still needs her sleep.

Dreaming of the North Carolina of yore.
And we went to the Duke chapel to look around and hear the organ...
...and got a picture of Stanley Hauerwas' door. Much to Kyle's relief, he wasn't there.

Coast To Coast Part Two

Well, we made it back. Our trip was great, and Evangeline was the toast of the flight. Many people came up to play with the cute baby in 27A, and Evangeline delivered. Right now she is sleeping like she never slept before in her dad's arms, perhaps dreaming of a city with big trees and lots of toys and cousins and aunts and uncles and three in the back seat.
(And I also left my camera in Portland, so here are some photos from the last couple of days from Amy's camera)

Last Day

Today was our last day in Oregon. We are sad to go, excited to get back home, and thankful for the super wonderful time we had here. Oh and Evangeline has developed a pretty ouchy diaper rash.

Evangeline copies Ruthie again.

The Zoo and Stuff

Today we went to to the zoo. It was very crowded, but we managed to have a nice visit and eat an elephant ear.

Later, we went to my college friend's house. Bryn and his wife Susan have three girls. Grace, Sadie and Beatrice were kind enough to share their home and table with us. (Bryn says hi to all in Alaska). We cooked an Alaskan salmon for supper, which Bryn said brought back great memories.

Eight Months!

Look who came along for the ride! Evangeline seems a bit distant towards Baby Measuring Bear. Just asserting her independence, certainly.

Right there?
