Baby's First....

Our little acrobat fell and bruised her head today. You can see it forming here on the right side. Two bruises, actually. Perhaps she learned something about balancing on things. Probably not.

In a true display of Sisu, she covers it up and moves on.

Oh and Kyle had a barfing illness all yesterday. He is feeling much better today and it looks like the ladies of the house escaped its clutches.

Easy Day

No doctors, no car rides...no walking. Nice day. Good night!

Ringworm Unknown

I took Evangeline to the doctor today only to come away with a diagnosis of "it might be ringworm, it might be dry skin". So we're putting some sort of ringworm ointment on it for a week and if it doesn't clear up, it's probably dry skin. Kyle will be using said ointment as well. His looks a lot more ringworm-y than Evangeline's.

She did get to sit in and fall off of a lot of different chairs at the doctor's office, though, which hopefully made up for the fact that she had to suffer through a 10 minute doctor visit.

Yeah, I'm sitting backward on this chair. I pretty much
do it all the time on my chair in my own room.
Should I fall off here now or wait till we're closer to
our appointment time?
Look natural....
This was Evangeline's expression when another kid walked in with his mom. What is she planning?

Finally at home, she gets to unwind with some tunes on her dad's headphones.

Also, you may have noticed that Evangeline did not walk yet, so Kyle is out. Next up is February 14 for Grandpa M, and then March 1 for Auntie "Birthdaygirl" Beth.
Oh and also I accomplished some sort of something yesterday when I did not check on Evangeline all night. Since she moved to her own room, she's been sleeping straight without a peep from
7:30/8pm - 7:30am. But I've been checking on her every 2 hours or so because I am a crazy person. I felt a lot less tired this morning.

Toasty Toes

It took a shipment from Alaska to get The Girl a suit that would keep her feet warm. Obviously, North Carolina is not the best place to shop for such things. Thanks! We had a nice warm walk today.

Hideout

Evangeline has a new hideout. This is a luxurious location with good views of the kitchen. She can keep an eye on her parents, but also has a bit of privacy. The window is also a wonderful bonus, which many hideouts lack. Several books are provided, as well as a cord and heating vent. Her parents lame band posters will have to serve as decoration for the time being.
No walking yet, so I lost.
Also... it looks like Evangeline and I might have a bit of the ringworm.

Walking?

We just don't think this counts:

So, Grandma E. did not win with her guess of yesterday, and Kyle is next with tomorrow. Super Bowl madness.

Evangeline loved her visit to her dad's Great Uncle Ed and Aunt Betty's home in Lenoir today.
Mimi wanted little to do with Evangeline. Maybe because Evangeline
squealed and chased her so much.

She showed off a little on the stool.
She only fell once and didn't cry. (When she fell
she was balancing on one foot while holding onto the
table with one hand and waving frantically at
Mimi with the other)

Don't try this at home.
Helping Aunt Betty work her walker.
You go under like this...
...balance like so...
...and then a little free-style hanging on here. Don't worry,
you'll catch on and I'll help all you want.
Taking notes.

Thanks Ed and Betty for a great day.

Difficult Photography

One reason there haven't been too many videos lately is because all Evangeline wants to do is touch the camera lens and push the buttons. So me trying to video her cute jibber-jabbering as she reads a book quickly turns to crying. Evangeline, that is. More often lately it is so with the camera, too. Tonight, for example, she was doing lots of toothy smiles. When I brought out the camera she just wanted to capture it and push the buttons. Then I'd show her the picture, and she's laugh, so I'd try and take her laughing picture, but she'd only want to push the buttons...etc...etc...so an attempt at getting pictures of cute smiles turned into this. But, take heart--she was smiling and laughing in between. Really, she was. I hope this phase passes soon, or else there will be a lot of sad blog posts coming up.

But then she settled down with her tablespoon and watched Jeopardy! with her dad.
