From Whence a Name?

We've neglected to give you the history behind Irene's name. Well, as most of you know, we were agonizing over two names in particular, with a third thrown in every few days or so just to confuse us. Then one day Kyle came home from studying some hymns to suggest we go with "Irene". Great, said I. It is my grandmother's middle name. And it is my grandfather's only sibling's name. And it is a great hymn tune, said Kyle. It means "peace" we said.
so:
Irene is my maternal grandmother's middle name and my paternal grandfather's sister's name. It means "peace" in Greek (Εἰρήνη).
Selma is my paternal grandmother's first name.
Anne is both Kyle's mom's middle name and his sister Jessica's middle name (though they do not use the "e").
Mietzner is our name.
